Putlocker Alternatives to Stream Movies Online - Updated July 2019

Search ‘putlocker’ and you will see hundreds of returns for those clones. From Putlockertv, Putlockers.movie to Putlockers.mn, there are lot of them out there all offering the same kind of service as the original putlocker. However, given the nature of the service on offer, we do not know if we can trust any of these sites. That isn’t to say any of them are bad, not at all, but it does give us pause.
So what are some viable Putlocker alternatives?

FOUR PUTLOCKER ALTERNATIVES WORTH TRYING

While Putlocker never hosted any copyrighted material, it did host links to it, which is what caused it problems. Like most successful websites, as soon as one goes down, many copycats appear offering to fill the hole. That has happened here.

Putlocker.io

Putlocker seems to be rated quite highly even though I personally have never heard of it. The website is clean and easy to use and works quite fast too. It isn’t the slickest interface in the world but makes short work of finding movies and TV shows to watch. Both have their own category and there is also a useful search function should you need it.
The range of movies and Tv shows seems mixed. Some titles I had never heard of but others were recent and what we would regard as successful. Streaming is seamless too. Highlight a title and a popup appears, select Watch and a new screen shows with the title front and center. There seems little buffering and speed was acceptable.

POPCORN TIME

While slightly different in scope than Popcorn, the best way to access free movies and TV shows is by using Popcorn Time. You need to download an app rather than via a browser but the app is small and contains no nefarious code that I could find. Install the app, find a title, select it and it plays. There is also Popcorn Time Online if you prefer.
The interface and app is pretty good with clear category selections and lots of new and up and coming titles. There are the usual no-names here but the selection does include many blockbuster or top TV titles too. The downside of having to install an app instead of watching through a browser is easily offset by the ease of use and sheer volume of content available.

FMOVIES

FMovies is a bit like Solar Movie but the interface is much nicer. It also seems to contain many more Hollywood titles and mainstream TV shows. The categorization seems better at FMovies and the overall experience is better for the browsing part. When it comes to watching, FMovies can falter a little. At peak times, selecting and viewing a title can take up to a minute.
Select a title and you are taken to the movie page. The movie should play automatically. Be aware though, click the movie on the page and a popup for Forge of Empires will appear. Leave the page alone and the content should play without any shenanigans.

123MOVIES

123Movies has been around for a while and may or may not be a clone of the original depending on what you read online. Either way, this version of the site works well. The website itself is slick and easy to use. It has the usual category selections and even country for those who like foreign films. The selection is wide and varied and covers most new releases as far as I can tell.
Selection is simple, find a title, select it and you are taken to its page. The movie will play automatically or quickly after a prompt. It loads smoothly, buffers quickly and offers HD playback without any fuss.
TechJunkie doesn’t condone piracy or breaking the law. I am not recommending you use any of these sites, merely suggesting alternatives to Putlocker should you be looking for one.
If you do decide to use one of these, always use protection. Keep your antivirus software running and use a VPN!
